Asia Leadership Youth Camp Summer 2018
The Asia Leadership Youth (ALY) Camp, jointly organized by the Center for Asia Leadership and Sunway International School, returned for a fourth consecutive year from July 1-6, 2018 to provide young students with the opportunity to realize their hidden potential and gain insights into the crucial skills needed to become a valued talent.
Themed “Personal Leadership: Tools and Strategies to Navigate Through Uncertain Times” ”, the five-day residential camp was attended by 56 participants, who underwent workshops on topics such as public speaking, negotiations, diversity, 21st century skills, design thinking and entrepreneurship.
They were also exposed on how to give an elevator pitch, build their online brand, and what to look out for when applying to US universities. In addition to these interactive classes, the students were provided insight and guidance on different career possibilities, including education, design and entrepreneurship, medicine and healthcare, non-profit and social entrepreneurship, as well as finance and government.
Team building sessions consisted of sports, games and a trip to Sunway Lagoon Theme Park which was facilitated as a team building activity.
The Camp was facilitated by six Teaching Fellows, among them Samuel Kim from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, John Lim from Tufts Fletcher School of Diplomacy, Arienne Calingo and Anushka Ghosh both from the Harvard Graduate School of Educationl, Matthew Turner from Harvard University, and Evan Foggo from Tufts Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy.
