Top professors to lead ’21st century leadership’ forum in Kuching

For the first time the Center for Asia Leadership (CAL) will be bringing the Asia Leadership Forum (ALF), a venue to explore leading-edge 21st leadership frameworks and ideas, as taught by professors from leading institutions, to Kuching, the seaside capital city of Sarawak, on May 10 at the Borneo Convention Center.

ALF 2019, which had its first run in Kuala Lumpur last year, is geared towards leaders who feel the need to upgrade their leadership skills to the level of change-making in the face of highly unpredictable times.

“Asia is the world’s fastest growing region – and will continue to be for the next decades. But riding the wave of innovation and disruption means not just acquiring previously unheard of technical skills but also understanding and managing the human side of progress,” explains CAL Co-founder and Director for International Affairs John Lim.

‘World in flux’

According to him, it is imperative that leaders clarify their values and identify their anchor “in a world that is constantly in flux.”

This year’s ALF features six Center for Asia Leadership Teaching Fellows and professors, namely, Samuel Kim, Co-founder and President, Center for Asia Leadership; Steven Jarding, Lecturer in Public Policy, Harvard University; Junko Yoda, Co-founder, CLinked; Eugene Kogan, Director, American Secretaries of State Project; Dana Born, Co-director, Center for Public Leadership and Lecturer in Public Policy, Harvard University; and Rajan Patel, Co-inventor, Embrace Baby Incubator.

From 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the Teaching Fellows and professors will teach on different dimensions of leadership – from negotiation leadership, and social impact to communication — in both plenary and breakout sessions.
